Summer in the City of Trees may be reaching its peak, but the warm weather hasn’t slowed construction of The Afton’s much-anticipated Phase 2. The expansion will add another 35 condominium homes to downtown Boise’s premiere urban living community. The addition of Phase 2 does more than just add living space. It also furthers the growth and development of the downtown area as a whole. It is a large piece of what, over the last 5 years, has become a boom in modernization and opportunity in Boise.

A perfect example of the downtown evolution is present in the city’s recently announced plans to build a new, state-of-the-art library along the river. The new Main Library will take the place of the current Library!, which sits directly catty-corner to The Afton’s southeast, and it is safe to say that the announcement has set Boise abuzz with excitement. The 150,000-square-foot structure will house the public library, the city’s Arts and History Department, and public events and art spaces; as well as a gourmet coffee shop and rooftop garden.

Even with all those elements to look forward to, what really stand out about the new Main Library goes well beyond the building’s construction. Much like The Afton, it’s the details that make the project special. The City of Boise understood that importance and opted to bring in world-renowned architect, Moshe Safdie. Moshe Safdie has worked on large-scale projects all across the globe and is famous for his use of geometric patterns and open-air green spaces to punctuate his designs. The area along the river is already undergoing promising changes and with such attention to design, the Main Library will stand out as a shining light along its banks.

As with all things regarding The Afton, whether that be the Boise Greenbelt system or the Public Market on 8th St. or the coming Main Library, it all comes down to access. Living in the heart of downtown Boise allows you the exclusive opportunity to enjoy all the city has to offer, just outside your door. Plus, with amenities like incorporated green spaces (i.e. rooftop deck) and secure bike storage, ease of living is rooted in the building at every turn. All you have to do is come be a part of it.
